"RAK” symbolizes different meanings - the aviation code for the city, but also the kindness experienced by the Moroccan people and the respect and kinship among all those who worked on this project. It is a heartfelt expression of gratitude and appreciation to everyone involved and a beautiful reminder of the power of unity and collaboration. The location chosen to showcase the MA designers' collections was carefully selected to match the hard work and dedication of the MA fashion design students. This season, the faculty and designers decided to do things differently and hold their show in Marrakesh, Morocco, also known as the Red City. Presenting an expression of the global nature of the industry, this event aimed to create captivating content through image-making and film, using the stunning Agafay Desert as a breathtaking backdrop to the show. With the support of The University of Salford and the freedom to pursue new adventures, the MA Fashion Design faculty, a collective of students, UOS staff, freelancers, and friends came together to create something truly awe-inspiring. The people of Marrakesh welcomed everyone into their homes and hearts with their beautiful spirit of giving. We express gratitude towards these selfless and empathetic acts of individuals. This generosity is deeply appreciated and serves as an inspiration to all of us. The designers' collections were the product of countless hours of hard work, both on and off campus. During their travels, they gained valuable experience and learned the true meaning of collaboration. As a group of emerging creatives, they sought to explore the core of fashion, its potential, and how far they could stretch the boundaries of collaboration in this field. This group of students, staff, freelancers, and friends mingled with Marrakesh locals through street casting and documentary photography to celebrate a contemporary understanding of community and togetherness.
